Pilings driven across the line separating Lake Borgne from Mississippi Sound from St Joseph Pt to Half Moon Island - boom is stretched between the pilings in two rows for more than three miles. Work is continuing to string the boom another six miles to Malheureux Point.

More pelicans! No sign of oil yet and we are almost to Gulfport. The marshes of Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama are hoe to all kinds of birds and sea-life. Oil in them would devastate the ecosystem. |
