TOWING A HOPPER FROM MASSENA TO CNY
TUG SHENANDOAH

May 23 - 30, 2006 - NYS Canal System, Lake Ontario and St Lawrence Seaway Tow - Page 1

We left Cohoes, NY on May 23rd and ran light boat up to Massena, NY to pick up a barge and tow it back to New York City. We left the upper wall of the Snell Lock on May 27, in the late afternoon and towed west through the St Lawrence Seaway, across Lake Ontarion and into the New York State Canal System. We secured the barge with two others on May 30 just above Lock E-20, west of Utica. The barge is 195' long x 35' wide and 18' tall. She is only drawing about a foot of water.
