Bridge E-12. This is the toughest bridge on the sytem, especially westbound. The footings are 50 ft apart, have no fendering and are just concrete with jagged sheet piling around them. It is 20 ft tall Coming west you are sweeoing through a bend as you make the bridge. You get used to it though and eventually hardly slow down for it. The guard gates are the same way. They are 50 ft wide and after a while you just breeze right through them. Mostly it depends on who you have on the bow. A good deckhand can do wonders. Chaz Neaton was on deck with me for this trip with the two barges and did an amazing job of getting the YFN through the system. We never touched a thing unintentionally with him on the radio.
