Towing the JO-532
through the Charles River locks to raise the Luna and Venus |
|
The Luna came up after much pumping
and we towed her out of the Charles at the morning rush hour in Boston. |
|
The Luna going to port |
|
The rudder was hard over so Ed Redfield
and his Moon Cusser kept the bow pointed in the right direction.
Cashman's Big Whizzer is the tailboat for the first lock, car bridge,
railroad bridge and second lock. |
|
The Venus was floated and spun around
and went down with her bow in the channel. |
|
It took a six inch pump running around
the clock to keep the Luna afloat. One night the watchman went to
the bar and forgot to fuel up the pump. |
