The New York State Marine Transportation Association is a group of marine transportation companies that work together to provide towing and transportation services throughout New York State and to all US ports that connect to the Empire State.

Each of our members are experts in their areas and can ensure the safe transportaion of your equipment and or cargo through the many different waterways of New York state and along the East Coast. And, through their shared network, they also have connecions with safe and reliable companies from Maine to Texas, across the Lakes to Minnesota and throughout the inland waterways. Which means, if you have just bought a barge in Chattanooga, TN, we have the expertise to get it to you in Buffalo, NY. There is no extra charge for our services. We provide our combined knowledge to help you accomplish your goals.

New York covers 54,556 square miles and ranks as the 27th largest state by size. New York's borders touch (clockwise from the west) two Great Lakes (Erie and Ontario, which are connected by the Niagara River); the provinces of Ontario and Quebec in Canada; Lake Champlain; three New England states (Vermont, Massachusetts, and Connecticut); the Atlantic Ocean, and two Mid-Atlantic States, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. In addition, Rhode Island shares a water border with New York. New York Harbor is connected to two of the Great Lakes by the Hudson River and NYS Canal System. The Canal System allows for commercial water transportation from Lake Erie at Buffalo and Lake Ontario at Oswego to travel through to Albany on the Hudson and also allows access to Lake Champlain and Vermont.
