Work Week
Intracoastal Transportation, Inc strives to maintain work schedules that
meet the operational needs of the works site, its customers, and company
objectives. The standard work week is considered normal operating procedure.
However, with the approval of the work unit's vice president, work units
may implement changes to work schedules and work locations that may include
but are not limited to flextime or alternate work schedules to meet operational
demands. Implementation of an "alternate work schedule" may
need to follow prescribed regulatory procedures. Therefore, managers should
contact Human Resources to ensure that proper procedures are followed
before implementing any type of alternate work schedule. The following
information generally applies to non-exempt positions. Exempt positions
may require employees to work the amount of time necessary to perform
their job.

performed. Scheduled hours for shifts to begin and end may be established
by the departments/units according to operational needs. If you are called
in to work a shift or have been assigned to a shift, and you work less
than four hours, you will be paid for four hours. If you work between
four and eight hours you will be paid for the full eight hours.
Rest Periods
Employees are allowed one 15-minute rest period for every 4 consecutive
hours of work, excluding their lunch period. The rest period begins at

return to the work station. Intracoastal Transportation, Inc work sites
provide facilities for the employees' use and convenience during their
rest periods. A rest period is not required for employees whose total

are counted as hours worked to determine pay. Depending on the nature
of the work on any given day, the time of your rest period my change.

a barge move, the rest period may take place before or after the move.)
Meal Periods
Time allotted for meal periods is not less than 30 minutes and not greater
than one hour in a consecutive five-hour work period. The official start
and stop times and the length of the meal period may be determined by
management. When an employee is required by management to take less than
the allotted lunch break, time worked during the meal period must be counted
as part of the employee's workday. Employees should not be permitted to
work more than five consecutive hours without taking a meal period, except
when an employee works only six hours per day and does not wish to take
a meal period.
