GRIEVANCE
PROCESS
Intracoastal Transportation, Inc provides a working environment that fosters
open communication between employees and management. When an employee
feels that Intracoastal Transportation, Inc policies, practices, rules
and/or regulations have not been fairly, uniformly, or correctly administered,
the employee may utilize the Employee Grievance Process to request a review.
This procedure, which Intracoastal Transportation, Inc believes
is important for both you and the Company, may not result in every problem
being resolved to your satisfaction.
The purpose of the Employee Grievance Process is to determine whether
such policies and procedures have been correctly applied in the employee's
individual situation. Employees are encouraged to first attempt resolution
of any problem/complaint through discussion with their manager. An employee
who is reluctant to discuss the complaint with his or her manager, may
choose to contact a Human Resources Manager. After discussion with his
or her manager, if an employee is not satisfied with his or her manager's
decision, or if the HR manager has been unable to resolve the matter,
the employee may request a review by informing a Human Resources vice
president either verbally or in writing.
The employee will need to present the issues for consideration clearly
either in writing or verbally to a Human Resources vice president. It
is important that all issues to be considered are included in the employee's
written statement or verbal explanation.
The employee's statement will be reviewed by a vice president of Human
Resources and the employee's vice president. After review, the Human Resources
vice president and the employee's vice president may:
1. render a decision;
2. convene a committee to review the statement and make appropriate
inquiries and recommendations regarding the issues before rendering
a decision or
3. refer the matter to the Compliance and Ethics Committee ("CEC").
The decision will be reviewed by a member of the Legal Department before
being communicated to the employee by a representative of Human Resources.
The decision of the Human Resources vice president and the employee's
vice president is final, unless they elect to refer the matter to the
CEC.
